Conference in Belgrade on the Jubilee Years Serbia – Israel

On December 14, 2017, the Conference was held in Belgrade on the occasion of the important  jubilee – 25 YEARS OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE STATE OF ISRAEL.

Beside the Ambassador of Israel and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia in the Conference participated prominent Serbian historians and University professors, journalists, Israeli University professors of political sciences,


and granddaughter of the appreciated and famous Serbian patriot and Jewish nationalist, doctor David Albala (born in 1886, Belgrade – died in 1942, Washington), who came from USA especially for this occasion .

On behalf of the Jewish Historical Museum in Belgrade, the director Ms. Vojislava Radovanovic and the Museum curator Ms. Barbara Panic attended the Conference.

From 30th October to 3rd November 2017, the National Library of Israel organized in Belgrade the first stage of international seminar called AT THE SOURCE. Number of archives, libraries and museums representatives from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Srpska, Macedonia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Greece and Israel were studying and exchanging professional experiences in working on archival and library material. Representative of the Jewish Historical Museum was Mr. Bojan Zoric, historian and archivist.

As a part of this stage of seminar a special visit and workshop was arranged for participants in our JHM on 1st November 2017. The JHM director Ms. Vojislava Radovanovic guided them all over the permanent exhibition and talked about history and culture of Jews of Serbia and ex-Yugoslavia, as well as about the Museum itself.

The archivist Ms. Branka Dzidic held a very interesting and comprehensive lecture about archives in our JHM.      Branka zahvalnica 001

Ms. Branka Dzidic’s lecture and presentation of the JHM documentation and inventories provoked fruitful discussion and talk about other archives and achievements in work among the participants.  At the end our Museum got a special APPRECIATION from the National Library of Israel.

The sequel of this international seminar will be organized in Jerusalem, from 7th till 12th January 2018.
